Dilijan City Park is the heart of the city; it has become one of the most favorite places for residents and tourists to relax. The park has been renovated in recent years, acquiring a modern and attractive appearance. In the center of the park is an artificial lake, which creates a breezy and beautiful environment for walking, taking photos and relaxing. Tourists can often be seen boating on the lake, which gives it a special atmosphere. Around the lake there are green areas, trees and benches where you can sit and enjoy the charm of nature. In addition to the lake, the park also has various leisure and sports opportunities: bicycle paths, a basketball court, children's playgrounds, and the «Verev Rope Park», considered one of the largest in Armenia. Here, visitors can try their hand at obstacles of different heights. In the 1960s, the park was occupied by private orchards belonging to the Vatolin brothers, and in the place of the current stadium, there was a garden of a man nicknamed Polyak. The city park was officially opened in 1972. Previously, the Sputnik cinema was located here, which was destroyed by an earthquake. There was a hydroelectric power station on the site of the current monument and cemetery. The author and architect of the project for the creation and improvement of the lake is Seyran Avetisyan.
